| Hey! I have something a little different for you today... I finished a throw I've been working on for our couch! It is a pretty simple basketweave stitch, and it looks so nice in our living room. Now I don't have to get my blanket from the bedroom every time I get cold! |

| One of my many projects this weekend was creating holders for my knitting needles, crochet hooks, and circular needles. Previously they had been in a bag with all my patterns, but it was so messy, and with our office getting overhauled, I knew it was time to organize the needles. This is what the knitting needle holder looks like tied up. |

| This is the knitting needle holder opened. The leopard print fabric is actually from a sheet set I used for years until I got married and didn't need a twin bed anymore. As you can see, I don't actually have very many needles. I had a TON from my Oma, but when my tendonitis became chronic I gave up knitting and got rid of all I had. Maybe not the greatest idea, in hindsight. So anyway, I have kept the left side of the pouch unsewn so that as I add needles to my collection, I can make appropriate sized slots for them. This pattern was one I modified slightly from wikihow.com. |

| This is the pouch I made for the circular needles and other extras, such as my cable needle. It's a drawstring bag, lined with the leopard print sheets to make it all a set. |

| I made the bag big enough to keep the circular needles in their packages, as I need to know the size and length and obviously I can't remember everything! Hope you like them :) JEM |

| Oh my goodness, it's been a long time since I finished ANYTHING! Work got busy, so many Christmas concerts, etc., and then we got a kitty (who makes knitting a challenge!). But, a friend of mine asked me to knit a scarf for her friend for Christmas, and I've gladly obliged! Anything to keep crafty. :) |

| This is a wonderfully soft baby pink scarf, made with the same Charisma yarn from Michaels that I used on my sister's scarf. Non-itchy is a big hit :) The scarf is about 4 feet long, and has a border to prevent it from curling in too much. I just have to block it tonight, and I'll give it to my friend tomorrow! |

| My sister wanted me to make her a scarf - with holes in it. This is the closest approximation we could find. It's made with lovely acrylic yarn (no itch!) from Michael's called Charisma. I wish I had found this yarn sooner - so many scarves I've made feel so itchy even though they look great. |

| The yarn curls in a bit so it looks a bit thicker but still loose. Just in time for winter - due to be given to its owner in 15 minutes! Gotta run! JEM |

| This cowl took me a couple months to make. It's 4 separate braids that are tacked together at regular intervals, and then joined at the back for a seam. I got the yarn on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC. Each little fold of braid took me 1/2 hour, and there is about 50 of them, so that was quite a lot of time! |

| If I did this project again, I would probably do fewer braids to make it a little more snug around my neck, and use only one color, but it's still pretty nice. |

| Hello! I am a really cool fuzzy green hat! I am going to be worn by S. JEM finished knitting me in her new condo! She has a STARS band-aid on her finger because she cut it on a sharp knife. Ow! |

| This hat actually has a really cool story. Back in 2009, my friend S knitted a cowl for me out of the same yarn as this hat. In return, I was to knit her something. Well, 2 years later I have completed the task - and it's a good thing I didn't do this 2 years ago because my knitting skills weren't this advanced yet. |

| The story gets even better though! With 5 rows left to go in the hat, I ran out of yarn. And this is not just any yarn that you can get at your local Michaels or Zellers! I got this Mirasol Sulka yarn on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC. Plus it is hand dyed so the dye lots are never the same. How in the world was I going to find the same kind of yarn that I purchased 2 years ago? Enter www.ravelry.com. On a whim, I decided to see if anyone out there in the great wide web would have the yarn. And someone did! This wonderful lady from Ohio shipped out the remaining yarn I needed, and in return I swapped some of this same yarn, only in a different color. THANK YOU!! |

| So I finished the hat last night, and have only to mail it out to its owner. I really hope she likes it! I do - I want to make one for myself now!! But this time I will make sure I have enough yarn... o_0 JEM |

| I think it's super cute! The colors are pretty much a perfect match... Funny story though: I ended up knitting this in downtown Edmonton while my husband wrote an exam! I tried not to be too conspicuous, but I definitely felt as though I had a death wish! |

| For years I've been keeping my iPod in a sock that lost its mate. If you want to hear a great song by a Canadian, check out "The Ballad of the Orphan Sock" by Bryce Kulak. It makes me tear up every time. |

| Anyway, I chose to make this hoodie look rather varsity simply because I ran out of purple yarn. I think it looks pretty cute anyway. At first I hated the project because the yarn split constantly, but it was from my stash and I was just trying to use it up! |
