i carry your heart with me

I've had this card on the go since last week, but was feeling a bit stuck on how to finish it.  Today my Stampin' Up products arrived!  SOOOOO happy!!!!!!!!  And voila, I was out of my rut.  The cardstock is from our wedding photo display (both the blue and brown), the orange ribbon is from a friend, the creamy construction paper from my hubby, and the ink from my mom.  The pendant, stamps, and punches (frame and ribbon) are mine.  The quote is from e.e. cummings.

Sorry for the blurry inside!  I really love the poem - I sang an arrangement of it last year in choir and it was just beautiful.  Hope you had a great Monday! <3 JEM

Joy

So today, ironically, I was listening to a sermon on joy by Mark Driscoll as I made this card.  Didn't have to think too hard about that one, eh?  I have loved this little picture of a boy since we received the life insurance calendar in the mail :)  So cute!  I used some yellow cardstock from my mom, my own stamps and ink, and some brown cardstock from our wedding photo display.  Hope you have a joyful day!! <3 JEM

Stampin' Up Fun!

Today was such a fun day!  I was invited to my first Stampin' Up party, where we each made 4 beautiful cards.  This first card involved embossing ink, making it look like a real doily on the paper.  I love the antique colors of this.  Someday I'd like to get some of the hardware involved to do this myself.

This second card is actually pink, not red, but I did the best I could with color correction.  I love the quote, it just brings me back to the days of watching Little Women.

I just love the colors of this card.  Blue and green are my absolute favs, and using orange with them makes my day.  This card was a bit trickier to make, but it, along with the embossed one, are my personal favorites.

The final card included a really neat machine that textured the paper once we were done stamping.  I also discovered that it looks neat if you use the stamp two or three times before re-inking to get a faded, layered look.  I ended up ordering a few supplies to make my cards a little cooler, and those should hopefully be arriving within 10 days!  Hope you guys like them as much as I do!  <3 JEM

One Year Anniversary Card!

Here is the beautiful card I made my hubby for our 1 year anniversary!  (I always make the best cards for him cuz then I get to keep them...)  The cardstock for this card is still from our wedding photo display, the velvet blue flowered paper is from my sister, and I got the button from an art gallery in Chemainus, BC when I was attending Capernwray Harbour on Thetis Island in 2009.  The theme of our wedding was birds/spring, so I thought this button was perfect - plus, it's my favorite!

I kept the inside simple with some creamy construction paper, the rest of the blue flowers, and two love stamps I had.  The ink was from my mom.  As it was our first anniversary, the gift was paper.  So guess what my hubby got me??  Some really really awesome paper for card making AND a gift card for Michaels!  I was so excited, but I've had to restrain my enthusiasm because I just haven't had any time to shop or make cards.  Ooh, and speaking of card making, tomorrow a friend of mine is having a card making party and I got invited!  I've never been to one so I'm really excited.  Her cards are always so beautiful.  I'll show you what I end up making tomorrow :)  JEM

Nadia's Birthday Card

This is a birthday card I made for my cousin, Nadia.  She's really into ikea, so I was going for that retro cool look that I love from there.  And I must say I love the results!  The blue cardstock is from our wedding photo display, the velvety orange flowered and brown paper is from my sister, and I think I either bought the buttons in BC during my time at Capernwray, or at Knit n Caboodle in Canmore.
The creamy construction paper is from my hubby, and the ink and stamps are mine.  I "secured" the remaining velvet paper with two blue brads from my mom.

This is the envelope I made from a calendar to send the card in.  I thought it matched pretty well!  A few days ago my cousin told me she received it and that she liked it!  Mission accomplished :)  JEM

New Baby Boy Card

Here is a card I made tonight for the arrival of a baby boy.  I don't know any new baby boys, but I made it anyway.  The white cardstock is from a friend, the velvety blue postcard is from my sister, and I found the booties when I cleaned out my memory box this past February.

The light blue paper on the inside is from a scrapbook package I bought when I went to Alaska on a cruise, the white cardstock from a friend, the ink from my mom, and the stamps are mine.  I'm a big fan of the textured white paper I used.  It's actually wrong side up!  The right side is a bronzy color, but I thought I would spice up the layers on the inside with its texture.  Hope you're enjoying your weekend!  <3 JEM

Hello Kitty Love Card

This is a cute Hello Kitty card I made for fun tonight.  Wow, fun - almost a foreign word in my vocabulary these days!  I'm really enjoying using different types of media in my projects these days.  I have two cards coming up that I really really like.  So, the cardstock for this card is from our wedding photo display (1 year on Monday!!), the pink postcard is from my sister, the white construction paper from my hubby, the ink from my Mom, the stamp is mine, and Hello Kitty came from a trip to Japan in 1998.  Yep, 1998.  That's what happens when you clean out your "memory box"!

I kept the inside blank as I don't have a purpose for this card just yet.  The sparkly cream paper is from a friend's wedding invitation.  And as always, if you are interested in getting me to make you a card for any occasion, just let me know!

Limited edition card ID!  Not sure if I'm going to make a stamp of these when they run out or not.. <3 JEM

Erin's Toilet Paper Birthday

There is a funny story that accompanies this card.  It was the Friday before my coworker's birthday, and so one of my other coworkers asked me if I would be interested in making her a birthday card.  She said the birthday girl was artsy and would appreciate a card like that.  So I laughed and said, "And you wouldn't?"  She also laughed and started backpeddling, and I cut in with, "You're such a jock!!"  We had a good laugh about that one.  Anyway, onto the card!  I'm pretty sure the front of this card is from one given to me by my parents on a past birthday (c'mon, what child/cat HASN'T done this once in their life?), and the body of the card is from a construction paper pad from my husband.  It was slightly faded but it works great with the grey tones in the picture.

I kept the inside pretty bare so everyone in the office could sign their messages.  I used cream construction paper from the stack from my husband, and tried out my new ribbon punch across the top and bottom to fancy it up a bit (I didn't have a lot of time that weekend so I had to keep things simple).  The stamps and ink are mine.

Here's the back.. Can't wait til I use up all these stickers and can get a stamp made of my signature!  This is also the first card that I made with my new workstation in our reorganized office.  It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience!  If you haven't seen the transformation, check it out!  JEM
